It Doesn't Matter To Me Part 2

What really is important?

Much of the confusion and doctrinal disagreements are based on things that are not important. I was one day approached by Watch Tower representatives. After realising that I am a believer, they wanted to engage me in a debate to prove to me that that what I believed was wrong. They asked me if I celebrate Christmas and if I believed I would go to heaven. The following is what transpired in Q&A format:

WT (Watch Tower): Do you celebrate Christmas?

MR. (My Response): I don’t celebrate the day, I celebrate the Ancient of Days—a Person.

WT: Did you know that Christ was not born on December 25th

MR. I like being informed and I am aware that there are convincing evidences that Christ was not born on 25th December. Nevertheless, I have chosen not to torture myself with controversies about the date of birth. The date of birth is not the focus of my worship. It doesn’t matter to me when He was born, it matters to me that He was born.

WT. But do you still celebrate on 25th December?

MR. I celebrate everyday. My most important celebration is the inner celebration. Even if I don’t physically celebrate on a particular day, the peace that surpasses all understanding wells from within me; it causes my soul to rejoice and celebrate the goodness of God—this is not something I do once a year.

WT. Do you give and receive gifts on Christmas day?

MR. I don’t stop people who wish to give me a gift on Christmas day but for me, if I see a need, I don’t have to wait till Christmas to give gifts. If not prompted by a need, I can give as a gesture and token of goodwill—this also is not tied to a particular day.

For your information and this, I’m sure, will delight you, I take a distance from the commercialised Christmas season. There is more material exchange than there is the spiritual change following God’s gift to mankind.
